With carbide, ceramic, and diamond sharpening options, this is great little tool for the field. Gently run a dull knife through the carbide blades several times, or more if needed on a really dull blade. Then hone the edge by running the knife through the ceramic blades several times. You do not need to apply lots of pressure. The diamond rod is used to sharpen serrated edged knives, folding out and back in securely.
